| For many cats are the ideal pet, especially for people living in apartments where there is limited space. Affectionate and a lot less demanding than dogs, the independent cat will still demand some extra special care and attention from you.
At Shaws we know what is required to help you look after, groom and pamper your cat.
Grooming your cat should be seen as time spent in bonding. Cats spend a lot of time licking and cleaning themselves but they still need you to assist them in maintaining a healthy, shiny coat. Grooming will help stimulate the circulation, remove moulting, unwanted hairs and prevent hairballs.
Whilst grooming you can check your cat for any possible problems with the coat which can be caused by matted and tangled fur. Also check for fleas, ticks or skin irritations.
Every cat will have a sensitive area where extra care should be taken. Talk to your cat in a gentle, reassuring manner whilst grooming to put your cat at ease. A little and often is the best way - daily grooming if only for 5 minutes will keep your cat in tip-top condition.
